“FROM TRAINING TO STAGE” was developed out of “A NEW PATH” a comprehensive initiative implemented by the OAS, TRUST for the Americas and funded by the USAID. This Theatre Arts module for wards and staff started August 31, 2019 and ended October 19, 2019.
“FROM TRAINING TO STAGE” is performed by the wards and staff of Hill Top Juvenile Correctional Center. The items are developed out of strategies used in the training program which allowed the wards to express their creativity through group work. It is produced and directed by Y.A.R.D. (Youth for Arts & Recreational Development) EMPIRE.
The wards and staff during their training in the techniques of Improvisation in Drama created the titles and most of the dialogue of the two short plays “Man and Woman Story”, “No to Drugs-Yes to Positive Living” and the experimental drama “Choices” . There is also a musical medley “One Love” which is performed by boys who were introduced to conga drumming.
